The Pleasantville Community Garden has been an amazing new addition to the spirit of volunteerism and community in our Village. Started by a then-12-year-old and his very supportive family, the PCG has donated more than 3/4 of a ton of food to help feed people in need. Last year, the PCG approached us and asked for our support, and our farmers gladly donated hundreds of pounds of fresh produce. We could not be happier or more proud of our friends, neighbors, and farmers for their efforts to feed those who need.
The Pleasantville Farmers Market is more than a food event. It's a community hub. Neighbors start their weekend here, catch up, learn what's happening, and make plans. That's why, whenever possible, the Market makes space for local non-profits to share information about their good works. In the last year, these organizations participated in our Market as part of our Community Outreach efforts:
Because part of our mission is to encourage a healthy community, we feel a special obligation to involve young people in the Market and help them learn about local agriculture, so they can make good lifelong choices. The Pleasantville Farmers Market donates over $8,500 in scholarship and in-kind contributions to the schools, including:
As a Pleasantville-based business, Foodchester makes every effort to support neighboring merchants in the purchase of supplies and professional services. And we are grateful for the support we receive in return. It's this spirit of community that makes Pleasantville such a great place to live and work.
